ShareBrowser

The ShareBrowser media management system is available as a component requiring initialization. If ShareBrowser use is intended and its menu is not presented when clicking ShareBrowser, see the Initialization section to start the ShareBrowser service.

ShareBrowser is not required for standard EVO operation, though it does provide for many additional features and added functionality. ShareBrowser requires Slingshot for automations, and both plugins are activated when ShareBrowser is enabled.

Note

ShareBrowser in this guide refers to the ShareBrowser server component that’s included with EVO. For information about the ShareBrowser client, web and NLE applications, refer to the ShareBrowser guide: https://studio-network-solutions-sharebrowser-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/latest/

Advanced permissions sync (ACL)

Note that the options differ depending on the permission mode used by EVO. ShareBrowser Client will respect user permissions when working with files; however, there may be situations where ShareBrowser can display information about content that’s inaccessible to the user, but found by ShareBrowser’s indexer.

In the default Share level permission mode, Advanced permissions sync (ACL) is neither needed nor available.

ShareBrowser settings

In the File / Folder level permission mode, enabling Advanced permissions sync (ACL) for shares will ensure each file’s permission is reflected when browsing ShareBrowser’s database at the next index operation.
